Illinois Cares Rx helps people with and without Medicare pay for most prescription drugs and many over-the-counter drugs if prescribed by their doctor. Illinois Cares Rx provides two prescription drug benefits: Illinois Cares Rx Plus and Illinois Cares Rx Basic. Illinois Care Rx Plus covers almost all prescription drugs for individuals who are 65 and older who meet income guildelines. Illinois Cares Rx Basic is for adults who are 65 or older or people with disabilities aged 16 and over who meet income guidelines. Local Area Agencies on Aging assist senior citizens with matters of obtaining and paying for health care, housing, food, medicare, and many, many other services.
The Elderly Waiver program helps find payment through Medicaid for in-home care for elderly Iowans. To be eligible, clients must be 65 years of age or older, meet income and resource requirements, and have significant health needs.
The SHIP Program helps people with Medicare understand their Medicare benefits, as well as get information and advice about other programs like Medigap, long-term care insurance and MaineCare (Medicaid). All over Maine there are health insurance counselors (specially trained staff and volunteers) to answer health insurance questions and assist in finding necessary health care.
