Lincoln Art Exchange is an artist-specific healthcare program at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx. They offer a unique option for eligible NYC-based artists who do not have health insurance to exchange their creative services for comprehensive healthcare.
The Artist Access program at Brooklyn's Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center allows artists, through performances or interactive programs for patients, to exchange their art for health care credits, which are accrued in the artist’s personal account. Each hour of work is worth 40 credits, and credits can be used in lieu of dollars to cover sliding scale fees in Woodhull’s HHC Options program.
Artists in Transition is a nonprofit organization focused on professional and non-professional artists of all art forms, visual and performing, who are facing physical and/or mental health issues, and their allies. The Ryan White Part B Insurance Assistance Program (IAP) helps Ryan White eligible HIV/AIDS clients in Tennessee pay for health insurance premiums, co-pays and deductibles.
The Ryan White Part B Medical Services Program serves eligible Tennessee residents with HIV/AIDS. This program covers Part B clients who do not have any form of health insurance. A Medical Care Manager will assess each client’s eligibility for this program when they apply for Part B coverage. The program primarily covers procedures directly or indirectly associated with HIV/AIDS and related illnesses. A fee schedule of covered procedures and the amounts paid is updated each year and sent to all authorized providers.
EPIC is a New York State program that helps seniors pay for their prescription drugs. Most enrollees have Medicare Part D or other drug coverage, and use EPIC to lower their drug costs by helping them pay the deductibles and co-payments required by their other drug plan. EPIC also helps members pay for Medicare Part D premiums.
Illinois Healthy Women covers family planning (birth control) and services such as the physical exam, pap tests, lab tests for family planning, testing and medicine for sexually transmitted infections found during a family planning visit, and sterilization. Illinois Healthy Women also covers mammograms, multivitamins and folic acid if they are ordered by the doctor during the family planning visit. Goddard Riverside offers free, confidential, one-on-one services for individuals and families to Harlem residents. Counselors help individuals and families access programs and services for which they qualify, including public assistance, food stamps and health care programs.
Springboard is a nonprofit agency whose mission is to help self-employed creative people make a living in the 14 counties around the Twin Cities and into western Wisconsin. They administer the Artist Loan Fund, a low-interest revolving loan fund for artists; and the Emergency Relief Fund, which offers up to $500 to artists who have had a career-threatening calamity. In addition, maintains a free, online Guide to Healthcare for Artists that includes connections to Minnesota's insurance providers, low-cost clinics and programs, free screenings and alternative care providers. Springboard's Artists' Access to Healthcare program provides uninsured and underinsured artists with a $40 voucher to use for medical services at the N.I.P. Community Clinic in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Project STAY (Servives To Assist Youth) offers compehensive and confidential medical, psychosocial, and case management services to HIV+ youth between the ages of 13-24, regardless of insurance coverage. Our medical staff consists of doctors and nurses who are trained in adolecsent health, HIV, and other infectious diseases. In addition, there is a psychiatrist and social workers on-site to provide individual and group counseling. Project STAY also provides HIV and STI counseling and testing.
